New version has Backpack issues

Before updating to this version, PDF files displayed fine in the app. After updating, they do not display. Instead, they show a .aspx extension. The files are set as type PDF in Systems Manager.

No more manual profile reinstall or reporting LAN IP?

I use Meraki Systems manager to manage over 3000 iOS devices for a school district. I mostly like it. However, two latest versions of the iOS app removed some useful functionality: 1) Removed the option in the app to manually reinstall the management profile. This was very useful for the occasional device that just stops communicating with the MDM server for no apparent reason. Since were using Meraki in conjunction with Apples Device Enrollment Program, this means if a device needs the profile reinstalled, I now have two choices: wipe the device completely, or if its not on the current iOS version, put it in recovery mode, upgrade it with iTunes, and hope that fixes it. 2) Even with the app open in the foreground, it no longer reports the local LAN IP to the Meraki management console website - just the public IP. When our WAN has 16 campuses all on separate subnets, that was a useful functionality for tracking device location in the console. Since the app wont give GPS location unless its in the foreground, I have to assign the device to a profile that puts it in single app mode locked into the Meraki app in order to even say more than, "Yup, its somewhere on our network."

Stupidest App Ever!

This stupid app restricts my iPad and looks down websites that arent inappropriate! It makes it easier for people to hack, into my iPad! If you type the password in wrong 6 times it restarts my iPad!

Lightweight, useful MDM agent

For use with Meraki Systems Manager MDM, you’re using this app one way or another. Some minor bumps: - Sometimes files in the backpack get stuck at “Loading…” with no progress indicator, status, timeout, or error. This is frustrating to users who typically need something out of the Backpack when they’re in a hurry. - Apps may show as “Installed” even when there is an error (licensing, region, etc.) and the app is not actually installed on the device. People find this confusing. - I wish the first screen wasn’t the compliance and activity log. The first reason users will open it is to fetch something from the Backpack, so that should be the first thing they see.

Update command missing

Please bring back the ability to install updates from the Managed Apps page. The current version only allows installations of missing apps.

This app downloaded onto my phone by itself...

I never authorized this app to be downloaded onto my phone. I dont want this app at all; didnt even know it was possible for an app to automatically download. If I could give this 0 stars, I would.

Backpack no longer functions

The combination of MSM 2.2.0 and iOS 9 has appeared to kill the ability of Backpack to retrieve links and download documents. Nice functionality lost.

Brilliance

Meraki mdm is the complete and utter garbage. Never download it on your iPad or it will infect a virus from ostriches on your iPad. If you attempt to delete it, it will simply re download itself.

App

I hate this app it doesnt allow me to use hardly anything on my ipod.

How can this be legal?

This app allows teachers to download apps WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION!! How is this company still running? And when you delete it, it can RE-DOWNLOAD ITSELF! Boo!

Awesome. MDM, EMM and MAM

I love these other reviews. Its MDM, its supposed to track you, prevent Jail Breaking and re-install itself. Too funny. 5 star

Horrible

Distasteful trash that ought to be banned from existence.

Garbage

My school recently pushed this out to our iPads and we cannot use certain apps. Obviously, we sometimes use Spotify and Pandora but they will be removing the app store and every un prohibited apps. #MerakiSux

Could be better

I came here for gameplay. Worst gameplay of 2016. Im going back to Call of Duty.

Does what its supposed to

The other review here make me laugh. This app is doing exactly what its supposed to. This is a Mobile Device Management app that syncs with a server that is managed my a company (or schools) management platform for managing mobile devices. It manages restrictions and tracks the devices location so that it can be recovered if lost, or wiped if stolen. If you hate this app, youre probably doing something youre not supposed to on a device that doesnt belong to you.

Excellent Product!

Does exactly what its supposed to - secures business/organization/education resources on a device. The negative reviews are bunk - they dont like being restricted to doing only the things they are supposed to.

Gets the job done

Great compliment to MDM systems manager enrollment

Free MDM that really works

Cisco/Meraki are really doing us a great service by giving this MDM away for free. They do a decent job of keeping up with the changes and this allows us to manage our devices very well. Cant ask for more.

Backpack not working

In the latest version, with iPads on iOS 9.2+, PDFs in backpack are not displaying. Please fix Cisco!

Kids hate, Schools love

Manages your easily walk-off-the-campus iPads. Kids hate it because they can’t screw around on the school’s hardware using apps that you do not allow, nor can they find a way to get around it. Gotta give it to the kids that take the time to visit the app store in order to skew the star rating. Funny.
